Jeddah Festival 2005

Hi friends,

If you are planning on visiting KSA soon, plan on seeing Jeddah. Why, you ask? Because the Jeddah Fesitval is about to start soon! Granted, it's not like the Dubai Shopping Festival, or Dubai Summer Surprises, but given it's Jeddah, it's a big deal. The best part for me honestly are the fireworks. I remember the first summer the festival that was held here, there were fireworks every single night. Last year, they were held only on weekends. I always watched them, because one, they are held from the corniche, and my house is right on the corniche, and I simply get up on the rooftop to get a spectacular view. Two, the fireworks are spectacular in itself, and I think they are better than the ones I see in Dubai!

All Gulf festivals are copying ideas from Dubai..No one can deny this..Dubai is the best..see how many Saudis are pouring to Dubai every summer!! Im have been living in Dubai for five years now and honestly it is THE BEST!

Dubai festivals are amazing, no doubt. But, Dubai has done something, which Jeddah, Oman, Bahrain and Qatar have followed suit with. I don't think Jeddah festival has anything to offer what Dubai does, mainly because of segregation issues. Jeddah has a long way to go, but I honestly think Jeddah does better fireworks than Dubai!

Although honestly, I have been to Dubai fesivals from '98, '99, '00, '01, '02, '03 and they got boring with each passing year.

Another thing, Dubai is not as cheap as it used to be.

Uffff.....don't even get me talking about the traffic. It's horrible in Dubai when the festival is on. This year when I went to Global Village, it was soooo far away, and still, the traffic was crazy. I know the residents there, don't get out of the house, unless they absolutely have to during the festivals.

Fire works are good here i have seen too, but the problem is no media could ever report the exact date, perhaps to make sure that least number of people turn up. Bye the way that link your posted "Jeddah Festival" doesn't work - to contribute to Jeddah's media.

Fireworks are good, the only problem with Jeddah administration is that they fail to announce the exact date everytime - perhaps to make sure minimum number of people show up - btw the link you posted "Jeddah Festival" doesn't work either !

The website for the Jeddah Festival is just that. Maybe they are still operating on it and putting some cool stuff. I put this one up since its the official one. I also agree with you about the papers not publishing the timings for the fireworks. Usually, we watch them when we hear the first firework explode!
