The Passion of the Christ

Hi everyone,

The Passion of the Christ is probably the most talked about, and probably the most controversial movie of 2004. It is beig released in Dubai tomorrow, for Easter. I for one still have not seen the movie. My friends in Saudi saw it on the pirated DVD, and I chose not to watch it. Tomorrow, I will have an opportunity to watch it and I am kind of excited by it. I am going with a group of people, and one of the girls said she cannot bear watching the movie again, because it was too gory for her.

I am excited!

Please keep in mind that the Islamic belif about Jesus is very different to what the christians portray in the movie. If you keep that in mind, you will understand the movie more from your perspective.

Get ready to be tortured by brutality towards the end...

Hey,

I just watched the movie. It is very intense and very emotional. I felt like as I just made a trip to Jerusalem to witness the whole series of events. I know a lot of people were put off with the violence and gore, but I honestly did not think it was as bad as some of the other violent movies I have seen. Why did people single this movie out?

Of course, there is a whole issue of this movie not agreeing with Islam, but I think, we need to be tolerant, if that is what Islam preaches. If one feels one's conscience is disturbed by watching this movie, one should not watch it. I watched it, and I can only say, that in many ways, I have understood what the whole deal in Chrsitianity is about. I wonder what Islam says about WHEN Jesus was crucified? Islam says someone else was put in Jesus' place? When did this transformation take place? Was it Judas? Were the people witnessing the crucifixion deceieved into the idea that Jesus is being killed, when in reality it was someone else? I can go on and on, but that would have to be another article.

I will admit though that this movie grabbed me emotionally and mentally, and I had a lump in my throat. This movie needs to be watched in the cinema to appreciate its true beauty. All those who watched it on their tv sets, be it a pirated DVD or original DVD, you missed out on a real cinema experience!

There are many theories about Jesus. Different religions have different beliefs. For example look at this website which was very intersting.

Some fascinating and eye opening information.
